The composer and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Bastien (FR) played first in some collective bands (Operation Rhino, Nu Creative Methods, Effectifs de Profil), and with the Dominique Bagouet Dance Company. " A composer's dream : a fail-safe orchestra at one's fingertips obeying ever so gently to his every command : a timeless sounding orchestra, both futuristic and slightly dada, conjuring ancient traditions in its surprisingly sensuous music. This is, in a nutshell what Pierre Bastien's "Mecanium" is all about, a daydream of sorts that he has successfully pursued since 1976. The musicians of his orchestra are machines. And the idea behind it is simple, efficient and poetic : to have traditional instruments (Chinese lute, Morrocan bendir, Javanese saron, koto, violin, sanza, etc.) played by a mechanical instrument made of meccano pieces and recycled turntable motors. These hybrid and self-playing sound sculptures perform a series of short pieces, charming and hypnotic. "
The STAHLQUARTETT (GER) was established in 2001 with musicians from the 'Steelharmonie' which was founded in 1999 by the musician and instrument maker, Jan Heinke. It brings together classical and jazz musicians. Their instruments, constructed out of steel by Jan Heinke, are known as Stahlcellos.
The STAHLQUARTETT usually plays acoustically in chamber music performances. As required, the instruments can be amplified and the sounds electronically modified.
The group's repertoire consists of their own compositions, and also a wide range of works from classical to contemporary.
The unique sounds created by the steel instruments lift these compositions out of their various origins in time and unites them in a common context shaped by the qualities of the instruments.
The musical interests of the members lead to numerous collaborations with other artists.
In these collaborations stylistic and perceptional boundaries are consciously transcended, allowing the development of new forms of musical expression.

Il viens temporiser une dernière fois un trio d'épaves instrumentales qui ont la capacité de générer des motifs sonores à partir de la variation d'une unité temporel, une sorte de tempo.
Jeune plasticien dont la pratique inclut la sculpture et l’installation, il développe un univers allégorique à partir d’objets ordinaires, parfois animés sous formes de machines ou d’ensembles mécaniques augmentés de technologies électroniques et numériques. Une des particularités de son travail réside dans le contraste tragi-comique entre le chaos apparent de ses assemblages et la précision de leur processus mécanique.
