GROWING UP FILM: 8:30-8:50PM
CHRIS IMLER: 9:00-9:50PM
FELIX KUBIN: 10:00-11:00PM
FELIX KUBIN is one of electronic music’s most dynamic and versatile performers. A lovechild of the home recording era, his activities include futuristic pop, radio plays, electroacoustic music, and works for chamber orchestra. Kubin’s music is saturated with enthusiasm for disharmonic pop, industrial noise, and 20th-century avant-garde music. In the last 20 years, he has released a diverse array of albums and played over 80 electronic music festivals. He likes to move between high and low culture, clubs and concert halls, as his main concern is the shifting of contexts and expectations. Felix has started at the age of 12 to compose electronic 4-track music with a synthesizer, an organ, a cheap casio keyboard and a drumcomputer. He wrote his own lyrics and performed live on punk and new wave festivals when he was 14. Since then he was fascinated by experimental pop music and especially electronic sound machines.
CHRIS IMLER is the most unscrupulous, corrupt and fascinating drummer in all of Berlin. He has played in the semi-legendary Golden Showers and The Spankings (with Taylor Savvy). Other references from his CV include: Peaches, Soffy O, Jens Friebe, Electronicat, Namosh, Jim Avignon, etc. Currently, Imler is primarily the left half of Driver&Driver, a duo with Patrick Catani. At Les Ateliers Claus he will perform as a one-man-gang-bang: astray vocals, square bass lines and stuttering ringtones, served with a liberal dash of German humour (yes, it does exist). His drumsticks are index fingers raised and pointed in the direction of change and hope. Chris Imler beats his drums for us all.
