the aunties collective

les ateliers claus v.z.w. - crickxstraat 15 - 1060 sint-gillis

a monthly gathering to share lived kinship experiences and collectively reimagine family structures. every 3rd sunday of the month, 14h - 17h - hosted by the aunties collective

love engagements based on kinship, solidarity, and communality always existed as an alternative to the nuclear family model. Yet, they often remain institutionally unacknowledged and socially incompatible. the nuclear family, which still informs our desires and social imagination, is the cause for many issues of exclusion in our societies.

how can we spark imaginaries to fuel alternative family lives with more joy, visibility, sustainability and safety?
what new terminologies and structures can we invent ourselves, and take care together of the needs our institutions have failed to honor?

whether you wish to engage with kin constellations, already practicing it, or even just feel that you care about it - please join us. each kin tales event will focus on a different aspect of such engagements. be welcome to share your own tales, learn from those of others, propose new aspects to explore together, build communtiy, and perhaps even develop future plans with us.

december 21st 2025 - on aunthood
to launch this series of events, we will explore the figure of the aunt: an adult outside the parental sphere who accompanies us, guides us, and helps shape the person we become. we will open an inclusive, ritual space inviting participants to share their experiences and what this presence has meant in their lives.

the aunties collective is dedicated to reimagining kinship beyond traditional boundaries. the collective consists of 7 members who's practices span across activism, architecture, visual art, performance, engineering, law, and participatory methodologies.
